Yokohama is Japan's largest incorporated city and second most populous urban area after Tokyo. Yokohama developed as Japan's prominent city following the end of Japan's isolation, and is today one of its major ports.

Yokohama covers an area of 168.8 sq. miles (437.4 sq. Km) and is estimated to have a population of 3.6 million people being the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture, located in the Kantō region and is a major commercial hub of Japan.

Mission to Seamen

The Mission to Seamen is an international outreach organization sponsored by the Catholic Church that provides opportunities for Christian seafarers to attend mass while in port; something they cannot do at sea. The Mission to Seamen in Yokohama is located between the Osanbashi Pierand the Yokohama Stadium baseball grounds, directly opposite the Naka Ward Office. The Mission is a place for seamen to relax, play games and keep in contact with home. They have three International Telephone Booths, and IDC Telephone Cards can be purchased there. The Mission has a fine bar serving a good range of spirits, cocktails and beers, there is a quiet area for Seafarers to pray and write letters. The Mission also has a television with satellite and video facilities as well as a full-size snooker table and a genuine English dartboard.
