Yokohama is Japan's largest incorporated city and second most populous urban area after Tokyo. Yokohama developed as Japan's prominent city following the end of Japan's isolation, and is today one of its major ports.

Yokohama covers an area of 168.8 sq. miles (437.4 sq. Km) and is estimated to have a population of 3.6 million people being the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture, located in the Kantō region and is a major commercial hub of Japan.

Yokohama History Museum

Besides real artifacts that chronicle Yokohama’s 20,000-year history, there are numerous, models, exhibits and displays for further learning. Of particular interest is the model of a teahouse from the Tokaido highway. The seven-floor building includes the following facilities: a library, reading room, auditorium, seminar room and a gallery for special exhibitions.
